What to Expect

Colon hydrotherapy, also known as a colonic, is a safe and gentle stimulation of the large intestine, a.k.a. colon, with filtered water. It is important that you do not eat anything for 2 hours before your session and no liquids 1 hour before.  After filling in a simple questionnaire I have you change into a soft cotton medical gown and recline on a comfortable massage table for the duration of the approximately 45 minute session. Before we start we will discuss your particular issues or needs, and I explain in detail the equipment and how we work. Gentle palpation of the abdomen is done to identify areas where there may be gas or congestion.

The process of a colonic is very simple. The part of the session that concerns people the most is the insertion of the tube. Each client receives a wrapped/sterile new tube. The tube is well lubricated before we begin and goes only a few inches into your body. You, as the client, will insert the tube, so you are in control. It can be a different experience for many people, but usually much easier than expected.

Warm, filtered water is then gently introduced into your colon through the pure water line, then released along with fecal matter through the waste tube and directly into the septic pipes. There is no mess, no running to the restroom. The bottoms of your feet (reflexology points), your shins, and your abdomen will be massaged, which often helps the process. All palpation and massage is done under your direction to insure your comfort level.  Just about everyone I have ever worked with has been relieved at how easy the experience is compared with their expectations!

At the end of the session you will go to the restroom and, quite often, release more water and/or fecal matter. After that, most people feel completely normal, if not better, although some people hang onto a bit of water and release it later in the day.
